Foot Institute Doctors put in an average of ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in reality a number of podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.
Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained extensive healthcare instruction with a main focus on issues regarding the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to handle problems ranging from typical afflictions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have substantial surgical education which furnish them the expertise necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.
Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and avoid numerous conditions which the feet frequently encounter.
