St. Albert Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – St. Albert specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists spend an average of ten years in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located within these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained thorough medical instruction with an emphasis on concerns regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to treat concerns varying from simple afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which furnish them the practical experience needed to carry out surgery on those complications that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and defend against countless conditions which the feet routinely experience.
